Q. Does Your Animal Still Need Veterinary Care If the Animal Receives Acupuncture?

Yes. Acupuncture is meant to complement veterinary care, not replace it. Companion animals must be seen by a veterinarian before beginning acupuncture treatment, and you will be asked for a copy of this receipt before the start of treatment.
Q. How Does Acupuncture Complement Veterinary Care?
A.
Animals who receive acupuncture recover more quickly from illnesses and surgery, and often respond more quickly to traditional therapies with an improved sense of well-being and mobility.
Q. What's the Difference between an Animal Acupuncturist and a Veterinary Acupuncturist?
A. An animal acupuncturist is first and foremost an acupuncturist, with training based on an Eastern medicine paradigm and additional training from veterinarians. A veterinary acupuncturist is a veterinarian who has had additional training in the methods of acupuncture. Theresa is an animal acupuncturist.
Q. What Happens During an Animal Treatment, & What Is the Course of Treatment?
A. The number of treatments necessary varies from animal to animal. Long-term, chronic problems may require a series of treatments while other problems may only require two or three. Treatment usually starts with an initial examination, in which reasons for seeking treatment are uncovered. The acupuncturist will ask about your concerns and observe the animal's behavior and demeanor. The acupuncturist will observe coat and physical structure, pulse, and the temperature of the animal. A complete medical and social history will also be taken at the time of the visit.
